Apple Music today announces electronic pop producer and songwriter PSILK as the latest artist to be featured in its Up Next artist development program in South Africa.
“What a privilege to be featured among the incredible music coming out of Africa right now,” PSILK tells Apple Music. “Knowing people connect with my music means the world to me. My music is all about raw expression and pushing sonic boundaries—expect the unexpected in 2025, and beyond. Much love!”
Influenced by the likes of Bon Iver, Flume and Tycho, PSILK weaves an intricate blend of folk, indie-pop and nostalgia-tinged electronica, always searching for heartfelt emotion.
Growing up in rural Oudtshoorn, he was introduced to music production by his brothers at a young age. “It was a new world opening before my eyes,” he tells Apple Music.
With no formal music training, he spent most of his time exploring and crafting different sonic landscapes, guided purely by creative instinct— a quality that lends a raw and unique texture to his music.
“With You In Mind” is his latest offering, and perhaps the pinnacle of his journey thus far—a gentle acoustic composition featuring the exceptional vocal talents of Thando Zide.
With wandering strings and a lilting melodic undertone, PSILK has grown from strength to strength since his debut back in 2023, and he’s poised for even more.
His latest EP All That I Am was born out of Quiet Life Co’s Artist Accelerator Program, an initiative aiming to uplift and support exciting independent artists. As one of the selected applicants, PSILK had the chance to work alongside an incredible team of creatives who helped bring this project to life—creating a new channel for catharsis.
As the latest Up Next act to be spotlighted in South Africa, Jabulie Majola will be featured on Apple Music’s Up Next playlist https://apple.co/3eITdJd.
